I Miss My Joints ...

I fell on the freakin' sidewalk and trashed my left knee last Friday. I was off Tuesday and Wednesday because of this pain-in-the-ass event.

The up side is I'm now seeing a ortho knee specialist at the same Virginia Mason Sports Center where my foot docs are. She French Canadian and sounds like Celine Dion "Vweee, Vweee!" but that's okay. She's actually pretty competent and has been diagnosing bashed knees w/o the aid of MRIs (they're impossible to get in Canada) for years. She did full x-rays of both knees and, SURPRISE, I have advanced arthritis in both and a possible old tear in the right one, but it's not the bothersome one these days.

My left knee has a bone contusion, fluid inside the joint, outside the joint AND on top of the patella. 1,000 mgs of aspirin are doing nothing. So now for a mere 40 bucks I'm taking "Bextra", which is only about $7 in Canada. Fuckin' pharmecutical monsters.

Anyhow, $40 worth of anti-inflammatory pills later, I still have a watermelon for a knee and she's suggesting "Sinvisc" or "Synvisk" or hyaluronic acid injections for both knees when the left one settles down. Anybody that's suffered thru the 8-inch needle injections for this treatment email me.

Here's a doctor's site where they discuss surgery versus goop injections.

P.S. I'm still Internet-less at home since my modem/software bugged out. I'm TRYING to set up broadband but it's going to cost a ton. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...
